Elizabeth Ann Schrage was born November 29, 1933, in a farm house west and north of Plainfield, Iowa, in Butler County, the daughter of John and Minnie (Lottmann) Schrage. Liddle, 77, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo with family by her side. Elizabeth Ann Schrage was born November 29, 1933, in a farm house west and north of Plainfield, Iowa, in Butler County, the daughter of John and Minnie (Lottmann) Schrage. She lived here until she was married. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, Iowa. She received her education through 8th grade at the Fremont #9 county school. She graduated high school in 1951 from Plainfield Community School. During her high school years she worked after school and weekends at a café on the south end of Plainfield and at the drug store uptown. Elizabeth also babysat her nieces and nephews. On October 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Laurence William Liddle at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville, Iowa. They lived on his parents' farm east of Plainfield where they farmed and raised their family. In 1967 they started a tiling and excavating business. They remained on the farm until 1977 when they moved in Plainfield. Elizabeth worked at the school house in the lunch room for three years and then she did some babysitting. In February 1985 Laurence and Elizabeth started and operated the 2X4 Restaurant in Plainfield. After a year they rented the business out for 7 years and then sold it. They also owned the Plainfield Laundromat and owned and operated Plainfield Toys. Elizabeth held various offices of the Senior Women's Club, and circles at St. John Lutheran Church, Western Douglas, as well as teaching Sunday School. She is a past president of the Horton Cemetery Society. Elizabeth also enjoyed doing crafts and had a collection of butterflies and clowns. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and fishing with her husband. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 59 years, Laurence, two daughters; Patsy Ebert of Fort Collins, Colorado and Suzanne Poole of Blue Earth, Minnesota, three sons; Steven (Debra) Liddle of Meriden, Randy (Dee) Liddle of Plainfield, and Timothy (Wendy) Liddle of Nashua. 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Rena Rover, and four brothers, Abel, Albert, John Jr., and William Schrage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church, Western Douglas with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Waverly and for an hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church
