It is said that quite a number of the old-timers and friends of the pioneer woman will come from Butte, Deer Lodge, and other places to attend the funeral. Mrs. Levengood was born in Pendelton county, Kentucky, April 3, 1833, and was married to her surviving husband, Peter Levengood in that state, Feb. 1, 1857. The family removed to Missouri and remained there for a few years. Mr. Levengood came to Montana before the close of the war and Mrs. Levengood came up the Mssouri river on a steamboat, landing in Ft. Benton, July 1, 1867. In August of the same year the family moved on the farm on Warm Springs Creek, situated three miles west of the city of Anaconda and has since resided there. Besides her husband, Mrs. Levengood leaves 6 children, 27 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She leaves two sons, Jeff and Cal, both of whom are well-known and respected citizens of Deer Lodge County; Mrs Charles Smith of Kilgore, Idaho; Mrs. William Buck, who resides west of Anaconda; Mrs. Thomas Fleming, wife of the present sheriff of Deer Lodge County, and Mrs. C.W. Sparrow who resides at 519 West Park Avenue, and from whose residence the funeral will take place. Mrs. Charles Smith was expected to arrive from Idaho last night to attend the funeral of her mother, but owing to a failure of the trains to make connections she did not reach here. It is probable she will arrive this morning. It is also expected the early morning trains will bring some of the grand children, several of whom are scattered throughout the state. Mrs. Levengood was one of the best known of the Pioneer women in the state. She was well and favorably known to almost every old-time prospector, miner and business man. For a number of years the ranch three miles west of the city was a stage station, and long before Anaconda was ever dreamed of the Levengood Ranch was a stopping place on one of the principal trails. Mrs. Levengood has been ill for some months and she was taken to Plains in the hope that the lower altitude would be of benefit to her health. Without doubt the funeral will be a large one.
