Description	:	Mrs. A.D. Storrs, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away Sunday noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray L. Reed, at Slayton, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years and 6 months. Mrs. Storrs had been an invalid for many years and was bedfast for a period of about four years preceding her death The body was brought to Hawarden Monday morning and funeral services were held at 1:30 that afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home, with Rev. Storrs, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away Sunday noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray L. Reed, at Slayton, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years and 6 months. Ackerman of Slayton in charge. Interment was made in the family lot in Grace Hill Cemetery. L. Blanche Knapp was born in Wisconsin but moved to Des Moines in her girlhood where she was united in marriage with Andrew D. Storrs on September 1, 1881. A few years following their marriage they moved to Hawarden and located on the farm just east of town, now owned by Mrs. William Edmunds, where they resided for a number of years, later moving into town and making their home here for many years. Mr. Storrs passed away here January 17, 1929. Seven years ago she went to Huron where she made her home for a time with her son, Robert E. Storrs and family, but for a number of years past has been cared for in the home of her daughter at Slayton. During these years she has been a patient sufferer, bearing her cross without complaint and ever appreciative of the thoughtful attention of the members of her family and friends. She was a mother of four sons and two daughters. One son, Jesse, died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Keehn, passed away in Hawarden about twenty years ago. Another son, Arthur A. Storrs, disappeared from his home at Ute, Iowa, about twelve years ago and has never since been contacted. The other children are Herman K. Storrs, who now lives in North Dakota, Robert E. Storrs of Mitchell, South Dakota, and Mrs. Ray L Reed of Slayton, Minnesota. Relatives and friends from out of town who were here to attend the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reed and two children, Lorraine and Richard, Mrs. Carolyn Wilson, Mrs. Ray Flynn and Rev. and Mrs. Ackerman of Slayton, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Storrs of Mitchell. Herman Storrs was unable to attend the funeral as he recently underwent an operation and is confined to the Veterans Hospital at Fargo, North Dakota. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 5/26/1938
