Description	:	Elizabeth Marren Perinchief, 85, the feisty and determined head reference librarian for the Burlington County Library for nearly two decades, died Sunday of cancer at her son's home in Mount Holly. Read More	Elizabeth Marren Perinchief, 85, the feisty and determined head reference librarian for the Burlington County Library for nearly two decades, died Sunday of cancer at her son's home in Mount Holly. A lifelong Mount Holly resident, she was a 1929 graduate of Mount Holly High School. Mrs. Perinchief graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley College in 1933 and received her master's degree in library science from Drexel University in 1934. Mrs. Perinchief first worked for the Burlington County Library in the 1940s, but she left to raise a family. She returned as the head reference librarian in 1961. She was the reference librarian during the county facility's most rapid growth period, as it moved to newly built facilities in Westampton. She retired in 1983. Mrs. Perinchief, who had strong interests in genealogy and history, is credited with developing the library's historical reference section, in particular the New Jersey history room and its genealogical reference section as well. She also is credited with developing an excellent art reference collection. ``She had a lot to do with developing the library as a force within the community,'' said Al Addis, the library's Cinnaminson branch manager. George C. Brown Jr., retired Burlington County Library director, said: ``She's one of the best reference librarians I've ever seen. Even as she neared retirement, ``she was young at heart . . . She was a working leader. She pulled her share of shifts on the reference desk.'' She was very intelligent, had common sense, and was able to communicate well with people, Brown said. ``She always had a smile for people,'' he added. A certified genealogist, Mrs. Perinchief taught numerous classes on the topic and lectured on other historical topics in Burlington and Camden Counties. In 1975, she wrote ``Cemeteries in Burlington County: 1687 to 1975,'' a book whose roots lay in her genealogical research. When she could not find information in existing books, she would find a death certificate and then go to the cemetery and check surrounding tombstones for additional relatives, said her son David T. Perinchief. That determination was evident throughout her life. An avid golfer, Mrs. Perinchief was the 1935 Burlington County Country Club's Ladies Champion - the same year her then new husband, the late Harry T. Perinchief, won the men's title. She continued golfing until last year. Even while battling cancer, she would drive back from her Seaside Park Shore home each Tuesday to play 18 holes at the Burlington County club, then go for her afternoon chemotherapy treatment, her son said. ``That's just the kind of lady she was,'' he said. Mrs. Perinchief was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a former board member of the Batsto Citizens Committee, and at the time of her death, she was a board member of the Burlington County Historical Society. She was a former New Jersey registrar for the National Society of Colonial Dames of America. During World War II, she was an ambulance driver for the Red Cross at Fort Dix. She was director of admissions for St. Mary's Hall in Burlington City from 1956 to 1961. In addition to her son David, she is survived by another son, Donald K.; a daughter, Judith M.; and four grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 121 High St., Mount Holly. Burial will be private in Mount Holly Cemetery.
