Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Davis who died Wednesday in Delta, Colo., will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Fairview. Mrs. Davis is survived by Earl Davis, a son, who lives southwest of Concordia. Mrs. Davis who was eighty years old was born in Indiana, December 12, 1842. Pneumonia was the cause of her death. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield) Surface Creek Champion, Volume 19, Number 31, February 1, 1923 Grandma Davis Dead. At about 4:00 a m. Wednesday morning a long and useful life ended when Mrs. Elizabeth Davis passed to the long rest, at the home of her daughter, Mrs.W. S Gorsuch. The aged lady had been sick only two weeks, taking down with a severe cold which develeped into pneumonia. Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Thos. and Lucinda Jones, was born in Indiana, December 12, 1842. She was united in marriage to David M. Davis March 28, 1861. To the union were born 14 children 10 of whom are still living as follows: Mrs. Gorsuch, Mrs. P. C. Freshour. Oscar and David Davis of Dry Creek. Mrs. W. H. Arnold of Redlands Mesa. Mrs. Hakes of Hotchkiss, Mrs. Miller aod Emmett Davis of Oklahoma and a son and daughter at the old home in Concordia, Kan. There are also a number of grand children and great grand children. Following the death of her husband Mrs. Davis came to Colorado in 1910 and has since resided with her son, Oscar, and daughter. Mrs Gorsuch. She was a very lovable old lady being of a kind and gentle disposition and making friends of all with whom she came in contact. For many years she had been a faithful member ol the Christian church and in every way up to the teachings she loved so well, She was especially proud of the fact that she was a direct decendent of heroes of the Revolutionary war and she distinctly remembered many of the tales told by her grand parents of those stirring days. Funeral services were held at the Gorsuch home this morning conducted by Rev. Coulter and the body, accompanied by Mrs. Gorsuch, Mrs. Hakes and Oscar Davis, taken to the old home at Concordia. Kan., for burial beside the husband who had preceded her to the Great Unknown.
