Davis, an old settler of Cloud County, died at his home in Buffalo township this afternoon of infirmaties due to old age. Mr. Davis was about 80 years old and has lived in this county for 30 years. He was always known as Paralell Davis, to distinguish him from the other Davis in the county. He leaves a widow and ten children, six daughters and four sons, to mourn his death. We could not learn of any funeral arrangements this afternoon. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield) Concordia Blade-Empire Concordia, Kansas Tuesday, June 1, 1909 Page 1 Obituary - David M. Davis David M. Davis was born August 18, 1832, and died May 28, 1909, leaving a widow and ten children. The children are Rosa, Veona and Nellie living in Colorado; David living in Idaho; Armenia in Western Kansas; Emmett and Stella living on farms near the old place; Oscar, Lizzie and Earl living at home. Mr. Davis was married to Miss Elizabeth Jones on March 28, 1861 at Indianapolis, Ind. To this union were born fourteen children, four of whom preceded the father. Mr. Davis and family came to Kansas in 1878, locating on the homestead in Buffalo township where they have resided ever since. The deceased was an old soldier, having enlisted in Company E, 148th Indiana infantry on February 14, 1865 and was honorably discharged on September 15, 1865, at Nashville, Tenn. The funeral occurred Sunday and was largely attended. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
