Description	:	The announcement of the death of Mrs. John Heit which occurred at 8 o'clock last Wednesday morning, May 10, in St. Joseph's hospital, brought a deep feeling of sorrow to her family, relatives and friends. She looked upon life in a very philosophical manner, accepting everything as it came to her, the sorrow and reverses with the same Christian spirit as she did the better things of life. Read More	The announcement of the death of Mrs. John Heit which occurred at 8 o'clock last Wednesday morning, May 10, in St. Joseph's hospital, brought a deep feeling of sorrow to her family, relatives and friends. She looked upon life in a very philosophical manner, accepting everything as it came to her, the sorrow and reverses with the same Christian spirit as she did the better things of life. Yet she had hoped that she might be spared, as in her home she was still much needed. Mrs. Heit had been in ill health for more than two years, yet she carried the feeling that she would recover and it was only the last short time that she felt that hers was a losing battle for life. Elizabeth Catherine Kleinfehn was born on March 22, 1885 on the old Kleinfehn homestead near Boyd, the daughter of the late John and Mary Hauser Kleinfehn. She attended the school at Boyd later coming to New Hampton where she attended St. Mary's High School which place she completed her education. In 1920 she accompanied her family to West Union, Minnesota, and on November 12, 1903 she was married there to John L. Heit by the Rev. Fr. Morris. For ten years they lived on a farm near New Hampton and from that time on the family lived in Ionia ten years, fourteen years in Charles City and seven years ago they moved back to New Hampton, which place has since been their home. She was the mother of four children, three sons and one daughter, namely, Gallus and Roman Heit, both living in Charles City and a son, Virgil, who entered the service from Ottumwa and is now stationed in the Aleutian Islands, as a merchant clerk, also her only daughter, LaVonne, the youngest who this year entered high school. She also leaves her aged mother who will be 89 years her next birthday, three siters, Mrs. Frank Spilles, Mrs. John Burke of Whittemore and Mrs. Percy Potter of Park Rapids, and five brothers, John Kleinfehn, St. Paul, George, San Francisco, Charles, Chicago, Al, St. Cloud, Minn and Walter who lives ner New Hampton. Her father died 42 years ago ans she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Antony and Oscar. Mrs. Heit was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church and the rosary society, also an active member in the Woman's Relief Corps, where she was held in the highest esteem, as to know her was to appreciate a truly fine character. Her funeral was held in St. Mary's Church Saturday morning 9 o'clock. The pastor, Father Nosbisch offered a requiem high mass and delivered a very consoling sermon. The remains were borne to the grave in St. Mary's cemetery by Herman Kirchoff, Ben Holschlag, Martin Houlihan, Clarence Schnurr, Nick Schwickerath and Hubert Laures. Relatives and friends from away who attened her funeral were her mother, Mrs Mary Kleinfehn, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spilles and Francis and Mr. and Mrs. John Burke, Whittemore, Mrs Percy Potter, Park Rapids, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Al Kleinfehn and Mrs. Ted Nieske and Marilyn, St. Cloud, Minn., Charles Kleinfehn, Chicago, Mrs. Mary Westemeier, Mr. and Mrs. Cahrles Westemeier, Dyersville, Mrs. Florence Lindstrom, Oelwein, John Fredericks. Matt and Joe Faber and Mrs. Veronica Roethler, West Bend. Mrs Louis Bagel, Charles City and Mrs. Weydert and Mrs. Kirth of Algona. Her brother, John, was unable to attend as he in confined to a hostpital in St. Cloud from an injury. Plot: Gravesite is located in the southern fourth of the west half of cemetery.
