Little was born to Conrad and Anna Marie Schreiner Dick on April 18, 1905, at the family home in Fairmont. She passed away on Saturday, November 14, 1992, at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 26 days. She was youngest of seven children in the family. Betty, as she was called by family and friends, lived most of her life in Fairmont. She attended the Fairmont Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1924. Following her graduation, she taught school in Fillmore county and in the western part of Nebraska. Her education beyond high school was summer sessions at Peru College in order to renew her teaching certificate. She was married to David E. Little of Fairmont on July 16, 1927, at her father's home in Fairmont, and to them one daughter was born, Barbara Beth. She and her husband spent the early years of their marriage in Hastings where her husband was employed by Debus Bakery and some other whole sale companies. When David's health failed in the 30's, they moved back to Fairmont. While living in Fairmont, she was employed as an operator at the Fairmont Telephone Office, retiring when Fairmont went to the dial systems. After the death of her husband in 1949, she went to work at Whitehall Children's Home in Lincoln for many years. In 1986 she entered Fairview Manor due to her failing health. She was a member of the Fairmont Community Church, where she loved to sing in the choir. She worked in the church circle and helped in anyway she could. She also was a member of Chapter AM of P.E.O. Sisterhood and Mt. Moriah 38 Order of Eastern Star. She loved to garden, raise flowers, play cards with her friends and challenged many of her family or friends to a game of Scrabble. She was fascinated by beautiful quilts, art and beautiful music. She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Little; daughter, Barbara Beth in infancy from whooping cough; parents, Conrad and Anna Marie Dick; brothers, Conrad, John and George Dick; sisters Mary Goodrich and Catherine Norgren. She is survived by her sister, Anna Marie Sebesta of Seattle, Wa.; sister-in-law, Kathryn Dick of Lincoln; and by many nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 1992 with Rev. Tony Woodward and the Rev. Delvin A. Roper officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied the congregation as they sang "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go," "Hymn of Promise" and "For All the Saints." The Fairmont Community Church choir sang "Blessed Assurance" and "How Great Thou Art." Paul Dick Sebesta, son of Anna Marie Dick Sebesta, played the violin to "Amazing Grace." "Star of the East" was played to introduce the Eastern Star services which were conducted by Helen and Lewis Badger Halsey. Pallbearers were Federal Bridgman, Lewis Badger Halsey, John Lowe, Duaine Roper, Alan Songster and George W. Thompson. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
