Description	:	David E. Little, son of James H. and Minnie Eshleman Little, was born August 9, 1901, at Fairmont and died November 9, 1949, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln. When about nine years of age, he moved with his family to Wickes, Arkansas, returning later to Fairmont to live with friends and relatives, that he might attend high school here--where he graduated in 1923. Beyond high school, he attended the University of Nebraska, and through the remainder of his life, especially through the years of his illness, he was an extensive reader--showing keen interest in many fields... Read More	David E. Little, son of James H. and Minnie Eshleman Little, was born August 9, 1901, at Fairmont and died November 9, 1949, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln. When about nine years of age, he moved with his family to Wickes, Arkansas, returning later to Fairmont to live with friends and relatives, that he might attend high school here--where he graduated in 1923. Beyond high school, he attended the University of Nebraska, and through the remainder of his life, especially through the years of his illness, he was an extensive reader--showing keen interest in many fields of knowledge. July 16, 1927, David was united in marriage to Elizabeth Dick at Fairmont. After the wedding, they moved to Hastings, where David was employed by the Debus Baking Company for a number of years. To this union was born one daughter, Barbara Beth, who died in infancy. David joined the Congregational church in Hastings and later transferred his membership to the Federated church in Fairmont. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Eastern Star. He was past master and past patron of these organizations. David leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elizabeth; his mother Minnie Brenckle; his brother, James H. Little, his half-brother, Charles H. Little of Fairmont, and his sister, Mrs. Mary Bauer of Wilbur, Washington. Also many relatives and a host of friends will long hold life richer for having known David Little. During the last fifteen years, while ill health has crowded in upon him, David has found increasing satisfaction in his home and loyal friends. He established a shoe shop in his home, where he spent many, many hours, and where the contacts with the people of the community, as well as the work of his hands gave him real joy despite the limitations of constant illness. While in and out of the hospital, David carried his burden with high courage, and back of his winning smile and light-hearted teasing manner was the will to live and enjoy life. It is only as suffering cuts deep into our hearts that there is room for greatness of soul. We are grateful to God that David is now free from the bonds of this life, but our lives will always be richer because David Little lived. Funeral services were held in the Federated church, Sunday afternoon, Rev. Willard Payne, the pastor officiating. The music was furnished by Tome Clarke, accompanied by Mrs. A.A. Ashby. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery, pallbearers being W.E. Goodrich, Stanley Kaura, Charles F. Tous, Clinton Halsey, George White and George Schepers.
