Read More	MRS. E. E. KINNEY DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS Mrs. E.E. Kinney, pioneer resident of Nebraska, many years of her life having been lived in Prairie Creek township, about seven miles northwest of Silver Creek, died suddenly on October 1, at Clarks, at the home of her son John. She had just returned from a several weeks visit with relative at Green River, Wyo., and in California, having arrived at Clarks on the Monday previous to her death, which was caused by a heart affliction after a final illness of but a few minutes. Elizabeth E. Mickey was the daughter of John G. and Martha Jane Mickey. She was born near Washington, Iowa, on March 14, 1856, and departed this life October 1, 1938, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was a member of the Methodist Church from early girlhood and also a member of Chapter Number 290 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Silver Creek. Coming with her parents to Nebraska in 1873, she taught her first term of school in a sod school house near Ulysses. She also taught school for four years in Polk county, where she met and married John Park Kinney on August 26, 1877 and for many years they made their home on a farm 1 1/2 miles east of Shelby which Mr. Kinney had homesteaded in the year 1872, he having come to Nebraska from his boyhood home in Ohio after serving nearly three years in the Civil War. Eight children were born to this union, one child, Delbert P., having preceded her in death. In the year 1891 Mr. and Mrs. Kinney moved to Nance county, purchasing the farm now occupied by their son Roy, and where Mrs. Kinney lived until the year 1929, when she moved to Clarks where she has since resided, although most of the intervening years were spent visiting at the homes of her children. Mr. Kinney died on September 1, 1908. A devoted mother, Mrs. Kinney had made a host of true friends in the community. Kind, thoughtful and loving to her family, yet always ready and willing to go to the aid of the sick and unfortunate in her community, she became mother Kinney to the sick and needy with whom she came in contact--a splendid type of pioneer mother who will long be remembered. She leaves to mourn her departure her children: Etta Shanahan of Clarks; Lee Kinney of Scottsbluff, Nebr.; John G. Kinney of Clarks; Josie B. Myers of Green River, Wyo.; Harry H. Kinney of Los Angeles, Calif.; Roy Kinney of Silver Creek, and Charles M Kinney of Green River, Wyo. Also one brother-in-law, John Rathbun of Omaha, Nebr.; one sister-in-law, Clara Mickey of Osceola, Nebr.; also 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. After a brief service at the home of her son John G. Kinney at Clarks at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H.F. Beebe of Silver Creek, the body was brought to the M.E. Church in Silver Creek where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Beebe, followed by the committal service of the Eastern Star. Burial was at the side of her husband in the Silver Creek cemetery.
