Read More	Mrs. Jerry Nichols who had resided in Greenwood county for more than sixty years, passed away Monday, January 24, 1944 at the home of her son, Carl Nichols, east of Eureka, where she was cared for during her last illness which left her speechless for five days. She had been in failing health for the past year or more with a heart ailment and only a short time before the fatal stroke had expressed herself as being ready and willing to go any time. Elizabeth Gibson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gibson was born in Wyandtte County, Ohio, September 20, 1894. When she was 7 years of age, the family moved to Greene County, Missouri and in 1880 came to Kansas, settling on a farm near Eureka. She spent the remainder of her life in Greenwood County. On November 19, 1882, she was united in marriage to Jerry Nichols. They were the parents of four children. One died in infancy, and one son Ira Nichols and her only daughter, Ada Nichols Brown, also preceded her in death. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols moved from the farm to make their home in Eureka in 1922. Her husband preceded her in death on August 14, 1940. Beside her son Carl Nichols, she is also survived by nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mahala Gepford of Tacoma, Washington; one brother Frank Gibson of El Dorado, Kansas; nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baird Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Burt Sutton, minister of the Christian Church. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Out-of-town relatives here to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson and daughter, Mrs. Marie Stover, Mrs. Hazel Thews and daughter of El Dorado; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brown of Hummansville, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Arwin Jackson and daughter, Mrs. J.M. Jackson of Leon, Kansas; Mrs. H.L. Alderson, Mrs. Nadine Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bowen of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Grover Todd of Kansas City; E.W. Miller pf Toronto, Kansas; Dan Miller of Neal, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Long of Madison, Kansas.
