However, her stone gives the death date of September 14, and I believe this is correct. A death certificate may now be seen for Elizabeth Irene Gift in familysearch.org and ancestry.com, and that record gave her date of death as September 14, 1935. Elizabeth Irene Cohagan married William Ray Gift on October 26, 1910, in Jackson County, Missouri. -------------- “GIFT SERVICES,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, September 16, 1935: Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Gift, 60, who died at her home, two miles south of Ottumwa, Sunday afternoon, were held at the Willard Street Methodist at 2:30 p.m. today, conducted by the Rev. A.P. Keast, pastor. Mrs. Gift had been a resident of this community nearly all her life. Besides her husband, W.R. Gift, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. S.C. Snow of Carpenteria [sic], Calif., and Mrs. Mary E. Crane of Dodge City, Kan., and three brothers, J.E. Cohagan of Ottumwa, S.A. Cohagan of Waterloo and Jay Cohagan of Blakesburg. Burial will be made in Shaul cemetery.
