Mr. Cohagan had been ill for eight months, had been a patient in various hospitals since May 8, 1938. Practically a lifetime resident of Wapello county, Mr. Cohagan was born in Adams township February 28, 1880, the son of Stephen and Amanda Cohagan. Two years ago he was a candidate for Wapello county supervisor. Some years ago he conducted Hardware stores in Blakesburg and in Fairfield. His home was at a farm four and one-half miles southwest of Ottumwa. Surviving are his wife, Zatha; a son, Thomas, Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Snow of Carpinteria, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Crane of Dodge City, Kan., and two brothers, Jay of Blakesburg and Arthur of Waterloo. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home pending completion of arrangements. "COHAGAN SERVICES," From "Ottumwa Courier," October 26, 1938: Services for J.E. Cohagan of southwest of the city, who died at the veterans' hospital in Des Moines Tuesday, will be at the Lester Jay funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Earl Daniels. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery with Masonic services by Waveland lodge, No. 596, of Blakesburg. Taps will be played by the American Legion.
