Pleasant, Tuesday night, following several weeks of illness. Funeral arrangements have not been announced at this time. An obituary will be published later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Moravia Union Thursday, May 24, 1934 Elizabeth Jane Baldwin Elizabeth Jane Baldwin was born in Hancock county, Indiana, November 29th, 1850. When she was four years of age she, with her parents, Thomas and Nancy Ann Baldwin, joined the caravan of pioneers and came west by covered wagon and settled on a farm in Monroe county. Here they lived until three years after her Father's death when she, with her aged mother, moved to Moravia, Iowa where she made her home until death. She had been in failing health for several years, during which time she was given all the care loving hands could give by her sister, Mrs. Frances Hook who has made her home with her for several years. She passed away at the hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on May 15th, 1934 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 16 days. She contracted bronchial pneumonia along with other complications which hastened her death. She leaves to mourn her departure, two sisters, namely, Mrs. Lauren Gorsuch of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Frances Hook of Moravia, one brother, Thomas Baldwin of Lambert, Oklahoma, besides a number of nephews and nieces and a host of sympathizing friends. Early in life she became a Christian and united with the United Brethren church at Selection, Iowa later transferring her membership to the Moravia U. B. church. She lived a consistent Christian life and found much joy and comfort in reading her Bible and church paper. One of her greatest enjoyments was in helping with the work of the church in any way she could. Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethren church in Moravia, Friday afternoon, May 18th, by the pastor, Rev. W. T. Boston. Interment was made in the Selection cemetery.
