She was the widow of John J. Overdyke who died in 1912. Mrs. Overdyke was born on May 25, 1872, at Sparta, Illinois, but had lived in Cherokee and the surrounding district most of her life. Norris of Enburg, Texas, Mrs. Maud Purdum of Cherokee, Mrs. C.H. Dean of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Norman Johnsonof Pittsburg; three sons, Dr. W. Darrell Overdyke, Keith Overdyke and Don F. Overdyke, all of Shreveport, La.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. W. Wallace Faris of the First Presbyterian church of Pittsburg in charge. Pallbearers were two grandsons, Arthur and Dale Purdum, C.A. Loveland, Harry E. Webster, W.A. Clugston, W.H. Vaughn, Lawrence Tharp and Harry B. Price. Interment was in Cherokee cemetery in charge of Ellsworth Co.
