Description	:	Betsy was a daughter of John Bovender and his first wife, Rachel Brown Bovender. She was named for her aunt, Elizabeth Bovender Logan, who was her father's sister. Married Nicholas Stedman Johnson on 12/27/1846 in Surry Co NC. This is not the same Elizabeth Bovender in this Memorial since our Betsy would have been age 11 in 1833. Harrison Matthews and his wife, Elizabeth, are shown in the 1860 Census living in Sonora, Gordon County GA. These two Elizabeth Bovenders may have been cousins or aunt & niece but definitely not the same person since our Betsy was living in Wilkes County NC with her husband, Nicholas, in 1860. ********************** ********** Headstone is missing from her grave and her husband's grave. Both are buried in old part of cemetery which is a grassy area near current church building where there are many unmarked graves according to pastor and lifelong church members. This area is mowed and maintained but no signs or plaques are posted to tell cemetery visitors about this oldest area of the cemetery and the unmarked graves therein. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++
