Mrs. John White, residing four or five miles southeast of town died suddenly Saturday morning. She had been complaining some for several weeks but went to bed Friday night feeling as usual. About three o'clock in the morning she waked up and complained of being very sick and by five o'clock she was dead. The remains were buried in the Americus Cemetery Sunday afternoon. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn the loss of a help mate and mother besides many other relatives in our midst. Mr. and Mrs. White were among the early settlers in this community and have many friends who will share their sympathies with the bereaved ones. *********************** The Emporia Gazette, 17 Feb 1898, Thursday Mrs. John White died suddenly of heart trouble at her home southeast of Americus last Friday night. Mrs. White had been considered a woman of unusual strength and vigor until this current malady began to undermine her constitution. Interment was made in Americus cemetery Sabbath afternoon. Mr. John White, the husband of the deceased, is the oldest of the White brothers.
