Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's Catholic church here Tuesday morning for Mrs. W. J. Peed, 80, of Seattle, a Kittitas valley pioneer. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Mrs. Peed died suddenly Friday afternoon in a Seattle hospital where she was believed to be re covering satisfactorily from a back injury suffered in a fall six weeks previously. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's Catholic church here Tuesday morning for Mrs. W. J. Peed, 80, of Seattle, a Kittitas valley pioneer. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Mrs. Peed died suddenly Friday afternoon in a Seattle hospital where she was believed to be re covering satisfactorily from a back injury suffered in a fall six weeks previously. Mrs. Peed was the widow of a pioneer Ellensburg harness maker, who came here in the 1880's and operated a store for many years. They moved to Seattle about 25 years ago. Mr. Peed died 18 years ago and also is buried here. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Theresa) Anderson, Mrs. Robert (Veronica) Halliday, and Mrs. Helen Realing, all of Seattle, and a son, Clarence Peed, of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Mrs. Hugh H. Lewis and Miss Mary Shorthill, both of Spokane. A third sister, Miss Rose Shorthill, who also lived here in the early days, died in California a year ago. All three daughters, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Realing, and Mrs. Lewis came here for the services, which were conducted by Rev. Father Luyten. Members of St. Andrew's Alter Society, to which Mrs. Peed belonged during her residence here, formed a guard of honor.
