Description	:	The 'Amish Center' byline in The Republican Newspaper of January 19, 1889, reported that "Reverend Joel J. Miller went out to the Forks (present day Bittinger) last Sunday to unite D. Beitzel and Elizabeth Orendorf in Holy Matrimony.." Apparently the reporter must have thought that the young Elizabeth ws getting married to 20 year old Dan Beitzel rather than to his 49 year old father...Indeed on Sunday January 13, 1889 Lewis Beitzel age 49 was united in marriage to Elizabeth Orendorf age 25. Elizabeth was the daughter of Magdalena "Lena" Beachy and Christian Ordorf II, born April 11, 1864, near Bittinger, Md. Lewis Beitzel farmed at his homestead in Bittinger until his death in 1919. He and Elizabeth had two children Carlena who died as a young woman and Edwin who farmed the homeplace after the death of his father. In her latter years Elizabeth lived at the Goodwill Mennonite Home in Grantsville, after she fell and broke her hip on her 98th birthday. Her eyes were dim,but her mind was clear. She lived until Feb 21, 1970 and died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 105 years 10 months, 10 days. She is buried in the Old Cherry Glade Amish-Mennonite Cemetery on Foxtown Road, near Bittinger, once again united with her loving husband Ludwig.
