Description	:	Ed Beitzel was the second child of Lewis Beitzel and Elizabeth Orendorf Beitzel and the 5th child of Lewis Beitzel. He was born November 30, 1893, at the home on Orendorf Road at Bittinger, Md. He attended Grammar school at the nearby Casselman Public School. In 1918, Ed served as a Conscientious Objecter with the U.S.Army during World War I. He was stationed in a farming postion at Camp Meade (now Fort Meade), Maryland near Baltimore, MD When he returned home, he continued farming on his father's land. In 1918, Ed served as a Conscientious Objecter with the U.S.Army during World War I. He inherited the place after his father's death in 1919. Ed was a member of Cherry Glade Conservative Mennonite Church and enjoyed singing in the church Acapella Choir. He also enjoyed gardening, and played the autoharp. He was married to Arminta Maust on August 6, 1925, near Meyersdale, Somerset Co, Pennsylvania. She died in 1973. Ed died September 10, 1981, at Meyersadale Hospital, Somerset Co, Pa, due to heart failure. He was age 87 years 9 montsh 11 days. He and Arminta are buried in the Cherry Glade Cemetery on Foxtown Road, Bittinger, MD. there were five children: Elvin, Bertha, Verna and Vernon (twins who died soon after birth); Marvin.
