Burial was in the Guttenberg cemetery. Mrs. Wirkler was born May 14, 1888, in Jefferson Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Overbeck. She was married to John Groth, of Guttenberg, Sept. 24, 1906. He died in 1931. June 18, 1938, she was married to Helmuth Wirkler, of Garnavillo, who died March 2, 1951. Since that time she has spent much of her time with a daughter at Sumner. Survivors are two sons, Howard Groth, of Colesburg, and Alva Groth, of New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Burghardt, of Sumner; a stepson, Merle Wirkler, of Garnavillo; a sister, Mrs. Henry N. Moser, of Osterdock, nine grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
