Read More	DEARKING,ELIZABETH LOUISE LIZZIE—Mrs. Henry Dearking passed away unexpectedly at her home in Geneva, Sunday evening. She was sitting looking at television when death came. She had been in her usual health. Lizzie Dearking, daughter of Chris and Mary Gewecke, was born March 30, 1883, at Ohiowa, Neb. She departed this life September 24, 1960, at her home in Geneva at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 26 days. When a child she moved with her parents to Goodland, Kas., for two years, after which they moved back to Ohiowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Ohiowa. When small she attended German school at the South Lutheran Church near Ohiowa. March 8, 1900, she was united in marriage to Henry John Dearking at the South Lutheran Church at Ohiowa. To this union five children were born, Rose, Joe, Vernon, Dayle and Gayle. Dayle preceded her in death in 1945, while in overseas Army service. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Ernest Gewecke; two half-brothers, Will and Fred Gewecke, and a half-sister, Mary Erfurth. She made her home around Ohiowa for 36 years, all but one year, 1924, which was spent at Beecher, Ill. In 1932 the family moved to Geneva, where she remained the rest of her life. She loved the great outdoors and flowers. While living in Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Dearking observed both their fiftieth and sixtieth wedding anniversaries. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, her children, Mrs. Rose Philippi, Joe and Vernon Dearking and Mrs. Gayle Turner and two grandchildren, Shirley and Dayle Turner, all of Geneva; one brother, Joe Gewecke of Ohiowa; two sisters-in-law, Marie Gewecke of Ohiowa and Anna Gewecke of Geneva; two daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday, September 27, with Rev. Alden B. Sears officiating. Ralph Reemts sang “What A Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Rock of Ages.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were George Arnold, Ben Fussell, Lou A. Domeier, Tom Madison, Walter Rhoda and Albert Sorge. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal November 1960 page 9.
