Read More	Elizabeth Louise (Orton) Holt 95 of Sidney, IA passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Plattsmouth, NE following a brief illness. Louise was born September 20, 1924 in Percival, IA to Lionell Jay Orton and Vesta Elizabeth (Barrett) Orton. Louise was the seventh of ten children. She graduated from Sidney Community High School. She met the love of her life, Verlin Holt, while she was working at the rationing board in Villisca, Iowa. On January 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Verlin Francis Holt at the Buena Memorial Presbyterian Church study in Chicago, IL. To this union were born two daughters, Judith Ann and Sharon Lea. Verlin & Louise purchased a farm south of Sidney, IA in 1958 and lived there until July 2003. They raised their daughters on this farm, and took great enjoyment in watching horses, deer, and turkey. In July 2003 they moved into Sidney, IA. They originally came to Sidney upon purchasing the Skelly Oil Station in 1953. Louise retired from Hall Abstract in Sidney where she was employed for 22 years. After retirement, Verlin and Louise enjoyed spending five winters “RVing” in LaFeria, TX. Louise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Louise has spent the last two and a half years in Plattsmouth, NE, in the loving care of Louise Jones. Preceding Louise in death were her parents; husband, Verlin Holt; 3 sisters, Sylvia Rose, Mae Calderwood and Patricia Orton; 5 brothers, Everett, John, Sydney, Frank and Frederick Orton; and a grandson, Brian Meldrum. She is survived by daughter, Judy Straw (Bill) of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter Sharon Meldrum (Steve) of Bellevue, NE; four grandchildren, Heather Zuger (Brian) of Bellevue, NE; Holly Balzer (Jason) of LaVista, NE; Joe Meldrum (Aubri) of Omaha, NE; and Lindsey Meldrum of Bellevue, NE; and four great-grandchildren, Ashton and Addison Balzer and Greta and Mable Meldrum; brother, Dale Orton (Vera) of Nebraska City, NE; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
