Read More	Hamburg Reporter Hamburg, Iowa 26 Dec 1946 OBITUARY - Lional (sic) Jay, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Orton, was born Nov. 18, 1883 at Menlo, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Riverton, December 12, 1946 at the age of 63 years and 24 days. He spent his boyhood and early manhood in Adair county and came to Fremont county in the spring of 1911. In September of the same year he was married to Vesta Elizabeth Barrett of Rock Port. They settled on a farm about half way between Riverton and Sidney. To this union ten children were born: Everette and John of Sidney; Sylvia Rose of San Diego, Calif.; Mae Calderwood and Sydney of Los Angeles, Calif.; Frank of Avoca; Louise Holt of Villisca; Frederick of the U.S. Navy and Dale at home. The youngest child, Patricia, preceded him in death in November of this year. He was one of 12 children. His father and mother, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death. The living brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Minnie Seivert of Quimby, Iowa; Charley Orton of Cherokee, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Price of Woodville, Wisconsin; Levi Orton of Belgrade, Minn.; Mrs. Cora Sylvester of Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Bertha Hipple of Wagner, South Dakota; Mrs. Alice Iseminger of Panora, Iowa. Mr. Orton’s main interest in life was the welfare of his family. In 1926 or 1929 (not legible) he suffered a severe case of pneumonia and since that date he has been in failing health. He was a farmer until March of this year, when due to his failing health, he retired from the form and moved to Riverton, where he was a patient sufferer. He is survived by his devoted wife, nine children, seven grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Sidney, Monday, December 16 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Hugh Jackson, assisted y Rev. E.C. Stewart, and burial was made at the Sidney cemetery.
