Description	:	Presque Isle – The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Bean, widow of the late Joel Bean, Esq., were held Tuesday afternoon July 25, 1916, at 2:30 o'clock from the Congregational Church. The pastor, Rev. J. C. Gregory, officiated, assisted by Rev. J.B. Ranger of the United Baptist Church who offered prayer and pronounced the benediction. The flowers were numerous and beautiful, contributed by many friends. The bearers were Hon. C. R. Richardson, Eben D. Roberts, George Smith, and A. M. Smith, neighbors and long time friends. Mrs. Elizabeth M. Bean was born December 24, 1834, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Her father was William Moran and her mother was Catherine Bell. The family came to Aroostook in its very early history and the subject of this sketch was married to Joel Bean in 1850. Mr. Bean died January 14, 1904. They had 14 children, the following of whom are now living; Joel Jr. of Boston, Augustus of Cattle Falls, Washington State, Mrs. Dora Keith of Boston, Washington Bean of Winterport, and Lenora, Mrs. Charles Gallagher with whom Mrs. Bean spent her last days. She also leaves a number of grandchildren. (Published in the Bangor Daily News)
