Elizabeth Marie (Weise) was born April 10, 1937 in Miller, SD, to Chauncey and Elizabeth (Steinleitner) Weise. Her mother died 8 days later. Elizabeth Marie (Weise) was born April 10, 1937 in Miller, SD, to Chauncey and Elizabeth (Steinleitner) Weise. Her mother died 8 days later. She was raised on the Kelly farm northwest of Miller and at Biddle's Cabins. Betty graduated from Miller High School in 1956. On September 19, 1959, Betty married Clyde W. Fanning in Miller, and they made their home on the Fanning farm southeast of St. Lawrence. She worked at Habicht's Dept. Store, and then for 28 years at Prairie Good Samaritan Center. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, fishing, collecting cookbooks, ceramics, and attending rummage and auction sales. Survivors include her husband, Clyde; three sons: Joe (Vickie) of Miller, Clyde Jr. (Amanda) of Wolsey, and Chris (Leah) of Miller; three daughters, Jeanine (Mike) Hammill of Miller, Charlene Fanning (Rich Davis) of Garretson, and Shirley (Kenny) Vlasman of Watertown; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; A half-sister, Linda Richardson of Columbia, Missouri; 2 half-brothers, Scott Weise of Houston, Texas and Brian Weise of Columbia, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, and cousins including Joan Joy, who was raised as her sister after their mother's death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Phoebe (Tschetter) Weise; grandmother, Anna Kelly; grandfather, John Kelly; and grandson, Ethan Fanning.
