Description	:	Elizabeth Bennett, 106, of Bonaparte, oldest resident in Lee and Van Buren County, died Tuesday, November 22, 1983 at 6 a.m. in the West Point Nursing Care Center, West Point. Born Nov. 10, 1877 in Farmington, she was the daughter of John and Matilda Corwin McDaniel. She spent most of her life in Bonaparte and Van Buren County. She worked as a weaver in a woolen mill near Bonaparte. She married James Rogers about 1900 at Bonaparte. They moved to Kansas the next year. Their son John was born there in 1903. Read More	Elizabeth Bennett, 106, of Bonaparte, oldest resident in Lee and Van Buren County, died Tuesday, November 22, 1983 at 6 a.m. in the West Point Nursing Care Center, West Point. Born Nov. 10, 1877 in Farmington, she was the daughter of John and Matilda Corwin McDaniel. She spent most of her life in Bonaparte and Van Buren County. She worked as a weaver in a woolen mill near Bonaparte. She married James Rogers about 1900 at Bonaparte. They moved to Kansas the next year. Their son John was born there in 1903. The couple later returned to Bonaparte. In 1918 she married George Wesley Bennett, a retired farmer at Bonaparte. He died in 1942. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a guest at a birthday party on Nov. 10 at the nursing home where she had lived since 1976. Attendants there said she used a walker at the age of 99, but broke her hip and had been bedfast since. She was alert much of the time and sometimes was able to feed herself. A sister, Nellie Luechel, died last year at the age of 99. Surviving are a son, John Rogers of Homestead, Florida, and a daughter, Minnie Huff of Bonaparte, one grandchild, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Bonaparte Cemetery. The body is at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
