ELIZABETH OYSTER DEAD Mrs. Elizabeth Oyster, an early pioneer in this vicinity, died at the home of her son, Samuel W., six and one half miles north of Villisca, yesterday morning at half past 5 o’clock. She had been sick a long time, old age being the cause of her demise. She was in her 82nd year. Mrs. Oyster, whose family name was Morelle (Moreland) Oyster of German extraction, born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1827. She was married to Samuel Oyster there on the 2nd day of May 1847. She was left a widow nineteen years ago and since the time has made her home with her son north of town with the single exception of about five years. Mr. and Mrs. Oyster came to Montgomery County from Pennsylvania in the year of 1868, and located in Washington township on a farm of 180 acres, where they enjoyed the distinction of being early and respected settlers for many years. They were the parents of eight children, all of whom survive as follows: Charles of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Riley of Randsurley, Canada; Samuel W. of Villisca; Louis Albert of Stillwater, Oklahoma; George F. of Kelso, Washington; John W. G. of Council Bluffs; Emma Plowman of New Market, and Mrs. Ella Gourley of Villisca. funeral services for the deceased mother will be held at the Arlington M. E. Church this afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. J. K. Driver, pastor of the presbyterian Church at Villisca, and interment will be made in the Villisca Cemetery.
