ELIZABETH MILLER Mrs. Elizabeth Miller passed on at 9:45 p.m., January 20, 1933, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harriett M. Hughes. Elizabeth Prudence Alexander was born near Connrsville (sic), Indiana, April 1, 1862. As a small child she came with her parents to Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. On January 8, 1880, she was married to Reynolds L. Miller, near Virden, Illinois. To this union eight children were born, one son, Harold, having preceeded (sic) her to the great beyond. At an early age she accepted Christ and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life. In 1881 she with her husband came to Kansas and located on a farm six and one-half miles southwest of Chester, Nebraska. Here she passed through all the experience of a pioneer wife and mother. In 1917 they moved to Chester to make their home. On September 30, 1930, while caring for her flowers and birds, she was stricken down. Although never again being able to walk or use her hands, she retained her mind clearly and distinctly and enjoyed talking with the many friends and neighbors who called to see her. During the long period of her helplessness she uttered no word of complaint; always appreciative of the many kindnesses she received from her friends and loved ones. Only those who knew and loved her best, know how brave3ly she bore her affliction. During the long period of her illness the devotion and care of her husband for her has been wonderful. Morning, noon and night he has been a constant attendant by her bedside. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, her sons, Reynolds L., Stephen Q., Thomas G., Paul E. and Elmer. Her daughters, Mrs. Harriett Hughest and Mrs. Twila Krisl. There are three brothers, Quincy Alexander, John E. Alexander and Paul O. Alexander. There are also 16 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of friends. The funeral was held from the Methodist church (sic) at Chester, Sunday afternoon, January 22, e1933 (sic), conducted by Rev. E.E. Carter of Hebron and assisted by Reverend Williams, pastor of the Methodist church (sic) of Chester. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic). A great number of Chester attended the funeral, where she was so well known for so many years and a number also attended from Hebron. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
