Description	:	Elizabeth Roger Power, daughter of George and Mahala Roger, was born at Minerville, Ill., August 15, 1866, passed away at her home in Kirwin, February 1, 1941 at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 16 days, after an illness of several days, of which she was a patient sufferer. Read More	Elizabeth Roger Power, daughter of George and Mahala Roger, was born at Minerville, Ill., August 15, 1866, passed away at her home in Kirwin, February 1, 1941 at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 16 days, after an illness of several days, of which she was a patient sufferer. At an early age she came to Phillips county (sic) where she grew to womanhood and lived her remaining days, knowing full well the hardships and trials of an early pioneer. On February 25, 1885 she was united in marriage to William Riley Power at Stockton, Kansas. An February 25, 1935 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their farm home nine miles south of Kirwin, where they spent the largest part of their married life. Her husband preceded her in death, October 22, 1935. After his death she moved to Kirwin where she remained and was able until Christmas to take care of her household and keep up her home. To this union twelve children were born, an infant daughter preceding her in death in 1896, the other eleven children survive her and were all able to visit with them all and was very much concerned about their welfare. The children who survive are her six sons and five daughters. They are: Will F. and Roy of Cozad, Nebr; Oral, and Cecil of Kirwin; and Ralph of Agra; Charles of Birkinfeld, Oregon; Mrs. Jess Sherling of Phillipsburg; Mrs. Harry Snow of Agra; Mrs. Faye Strickland of Lenora; Mrs. Earl Pierson and Mrs. Clarence Wiley of Kirwin. She is also survived by two brothers, Leander Roger of Chadwick, Mo., and George Roger of Utica, Idaho. Two sisters, Mrs. Calista Vanderlip, and Mrs. Rachel Elder of Woodston, Kansas. Fifty-three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends who remain to mourn her passing. She was a great lover of children and enjoyed having them with her at all times. In the month of December, 1939, Mrs. Power found the Lord to be her personal Saviour, and the last time she was in church service she gave testimony to her experience. Funeral services, which were held on Monday, Feb. 3rd, were in charge of Rev. Hartnett of the Nazarene church (sic) of Kirwin and Rev. Lower of the Congregational Methodist church (sic) of Kirwin. The pallbearers, all of whom were nephews of Mrs. Power, were Chas. Elder, Cyril Nedrow, Kenneth Nedrow, Wm. Vanderlip, Joy Vanderlip, and Guy Vanderlip. The flower girls were Willeene Stoner, Marcella Fink, Florence Mabel McFadden, and Vivien Goetchel of Phillipsburg. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brotemarkle, Mrs. Russell McFadden, and Ted Stuckman, with Mrs. Orville McQueen accompanist. Services and burial were at Ash Rock. All of Mrs. Power's children were present at her funeral.
