If this is correct, then her mother was Barbara Knause. If she was born in any later year, then her mother was Rhoda Bradley, Lewis A. Hildreth's second wife." ~~~~ Based on middle name in the obituary, following, believe Elizabeth to be the daughter of Rhoda Bradley, as stated above. ~~~~ Chico Daily Morning Record, Friday, June 15, 1906, pg 5 col 4: Passing of Elizabeth Rhoda DeHaven. Mrs. Elizabeth Rhoda DeHaven passed away yesterday morning at the family home, 737 Ivy street, after an illness of but a little over four days. Though she had not been in vigorous health for several months, her condition was not such as to cause alarm until Sunday last, when she was suddenly stricken with paralysis, from which time she gradually failed to her death. Her son, Neil, was in Quincy, but was summoned in time to be at her bedside during her last moments. Mrs. DeHaven was one of the best known of the older residents of the city. She came to Chico from Cincinnati, her native city, in 1870, and two years later was married to William Neil DeHaven, a former Assemblyman from this county, and at the time editor and publisher of the Northern Enterprise. As a result of this union there were born to them two children, George, who died several years ago, and William Neil DeHaven Jr., who survives her. Mr. DeHaven died in this city March 11th, 1876. Mrs. DeHven was about 68 years of age. Deceased had during the many years of her residence in this city drawn to her by her exemplary life and many charitable deeds a large number of friends, whose good will and affection she held to the last; but with advancing years and the changes which have come to this locality in the growth of the city, had not been as prominently known in charitable and church affairs as during earlier years. She was a communicant in the Episcopal Church and the funeral will occur under the auspices of that congregation on Saturday at 2 o’clock p.m., from her late residence, 737 Ivy street. ~~~ 69-year-old Elizabeth R. DeHaven was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on June 16, 1906.
