Elizabeth married Samuel J. Carkhuff in about 1852 in Erie Ohio. She died in marshalltown, Iowa on Jan.20th, 1901 and is buried in the riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Obit in the Marshalltown Tr Elizabeth wife of Samuel Carkhuff died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the family home 708 1/2 south Center, St. The cause of her death was pneumonia. Mrs. Carkhuff was 70 years of age and a native of Ohio , but has been a resident of Marshalltown for thirty-six years. She was a sister of J. H. Smith a well-known resident of Eldora and is survived by her husband and three sons the latter Eugene and William Carkhuff , of this city and Charles Carkhuff who is a resident of Missouri. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 O'clock from the Evangelical Church. Rev. W. B. McCrea officiating. Mr. & Mrs. James Henry Smith of Eldora, brother, and sister-in-law of the deceased, arrived in the city this morning to attend the funeral as did also Mrs. William Barnes, of Eldora the wife of a half brother of the deceased. Mrs. Charles Carkhuff of Kirksville Mo. a daughter - in -law arrived this morning. April 20, 1900 Joseph Henry Smith Will - To my sister - I direct that take out of the residue of my Estate there shall be paid to my sister Elizabeth Carkhuff by the exactors of my estate , Twenty Five dollars (25.00) per quarter at the end each three months until said property is divided and distributed as herein specified signed April 20, 1900 2nd great-grandmother
