Mrs. Zerngast was born October 10, 1920 at rural Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Henry C. and Edith Bertoncino Utermoehlen. Read More	Elizabeth "Tootie" Zerngast, 95, of rural Pittsburg, Kansas, former owner of Chicken Mary's, died at 2:38 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Zerngast was born October 10, 1920 at rural Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Henry C. and Edith Bertoncino Utermoehlen. Tootie was a retired businesswoman who with her husband Zig owned and operated Chicken Mary's in the 1950's-1980's until she semi-retired. She lived most of her adult live in Arma until moving to rural Pittsburg in 1965. She was raised in Pittsburg and Frontenac and attended Frontenac Schools until her senior year and graduated from Arma High School. She married Joe "Zig" Zerngast on April 12, 1941 in Arma, Kansas. Mr. Zerngast preceded her in death May 29, 1990. She was a member of the Arma United Methodist Church, the Arma Eastern Star, the Red Hat Belles Club, Lincoln Center Senior Citizens, a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of the Home Demonstration Unit at Arma. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Pichler and her husband Anthony of Pittsburg, a son, Larry Zerngast and his wife Karen of Girard, a sister, Charlene Belobrajdic of Pittsburg, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and her extended family, Harold and Lana Brooks, and Joyce and Lori Lloyd all of Arma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Margaret Tersinar and Delores Utermoehlen, and a brother, Henry J. Utermoehlen. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Arma United Methodist Church in Arma with the Rev. Glenn Duderstadt officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at the church prior to the services. Friends may also call 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. Sunday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Arma United Methodist Church. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
