Read More	From the Oxford Standard, Oxford, Furnas county, Nebraska, Thursday, 6 May 1948, volume 60, #27, page 5 Ella Louise Richards Tanner Obituary Ella Louise Richards Tanner, daughter of Luther and Elizabeth Richards, was born at Woodhull, Illinois on 7 May 1865 and departed this life 29 April 1943 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Johnson of Holdredge, Nebraska, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 22 days. She moved with her parents to Nebraska as a young lady and settled on a farm east of Mascot. She was united in marriage to John F. Tanner of Mascot, 1 May 1890. To this union six children were born. Her oldest son, George W. Tanner passed away 14 January 1921 and her husband passed away 14 December 1939. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter. She leaves to mourn her passing one son, John L. Tanner, Atlanta, Nebraska, and four daughters, Mrs. Emma Dyas, Mascot; Mrs. Isabel Menagh, Elm Creek; Mrs. Ethel Johnson, Holdredge and Mrs. Hazel Sheffield, Oconto; two daughters-in-law and four sons-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, two grand-sons-in-law and five grand-daughters-in-law. Quite early in life she became a Christian and in 1904 united with the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Mascot, Nebraska, to which she remained faithful to the end. Her married life was spent in the Mascot community and to her loved ones she was very devoted, a loving mother always looking to the best interests of her family. A real helpful friend and neighbor to all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted at Mascot Evangelical United Brethren Church by Reverend R.A. Helm of Hastings, assisted by the pastor, Reverend O.R. Breaw. Burial was in the Oxford cemetery in charge of Lyons-Quig Funeral Home of Oxford. Pallbearers were four grandsons: Merlin Menagh, Lloyd Johnson, Claire R. Dyas and Edwin Dyas, one grandson-in-law, Lester Whitney and Harold Snodgrass. Two grandsons, Lloyd Johnson (should be Tanner) of Paxton, Illinois and Captain John Tanner of Hot Springs, Georgia, were unable to attend the services.
