Description	:	Daniel Keefe was born in 1834. He emigrated to America in 1850 and married Ellen Hogan. Ellen was born in 1839 Daniel worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a section foreman before settling on a farm two miles north of St. Joseph’s Cemetery. This property is now owned by the Duschner family. Daniel Keefe died in 1907. Ellen died in 1930. Mrs. Keefe was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hogan and was born on Mt. Fox farm, near Krimalock [s/b Kilmallock?], county Limerick, Ireland, June 14, 1839. At the age of nine years she came with her parents to Chicago and then on to Dubuque county. About sixty-four years ago she was married to Daniel Keefe in the Cathedral at Dubuque. For a time they lived in Epworth, later settling on a farm near Farley. Mr. Keefe died 24 years ago. Mrs. Keefe is survived by the following children: Mrs. Martha Connell, Mrs. Regina Kelly, Dr. John Keefe and Leo Keefe of Farley; Mrs. Elizabeth Norton and Mrs. Margaret Norton of Chicago; Mrs. Clara Manley, of Sioux City; Mrs. Mary Miller, of Altoona, Pa.; Joseph Keefe, of Fargo, N.D.; James Keefe of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Benedict of Canada. Thirty-five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Keefe was a member of the Roman Catholic church, the Altar and Rosary societies and the League of the Sacred Heart. ELLEN KEEFE Farley, Ia., Jan. 13. – Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Keefe were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Connell, to St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Monday morning at 9 o’clock. Rev. P. J. Coffey read the requiem mass and also officiated at the graveside. The casket was borne by Harry Connell, Emmett Kelly, Dr. William Connell, Dr. Walter Connell, grandsons of the deceased, and Vincent Hogan and John Hogan, nephews.
