She was born March 28, 1919, at Forbes, Colorado, the daughter of John Henry and Frances Kauzlarich Bon Dalby. As a child Ellen moved with her family to a farm in the Glendale neighborhood in Coffey County, Kansas. She graduated from Burlington High School and was employed by Mobile Oil Company in Kansas and Texas until her retirement in the early 1970's. She then moved to Westphalia to be near her family. Dalby, 91, Westphalia, Kansas, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the Coffey County Hospital, Burlington, Kansas. She was born March 28, 1919, at Forbes, Colorado, the daughter of John Henry and Frances Kauzlarich Bon Dalby. As a child Ellen moved with her family to a farm in the Glendale neighborhood in Coffey County, Kansas. She graduated from Burlington High School and was employed by Mobile Oil Company in Kansas and Texas until her retirement in the early 1970's. She then moved to Westphalia to be near her family. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Altar Society at Westphalia. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Frances Dalby, Fannie Hoefler, Katherine Gorman, and Mary Bouse; and four brothers, Edward, Walter, Charles, and Marion Bon. She leaves a brother, Harry Dalby and wife Lavon, Williamsburg, Virginia; nieces, Mary Lane Dalby, Virginia, Pat Bouse, Topeka, KS; Margarite Hoefler, Kansas City, MO, and Ellen Thweatt and husband Jim, Westphalia, KS; nephews, Phil Dalby and wife Kathy, Maryland, Roy Bouse and wife Loretta, Emporia, KS, and Pat Gorman and wife Robin, Washington; 10 great nieces and nephews; and 9 great-great-nieces and nephews Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 26, 2010, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Burlington, Kansas. The family will meet with friends from 9:00 A.M. Monday until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westphalia First Responders and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
