Read More	Dubuque Times Journal 11 Nov 1923 Mrs. Lovina Seward died at her home in Edgewood. She was born August 13, 1840 in Winnebago County, Illinois. She was married to Dwight Seward on December 19, 1861 in Kalamazoo, Mich., and a few years later they came to Iowa and located near Manchester where they lived for several years and then bought a farm near Edgewood. When they both became too old to continue farm work they purchased a home in Edgewood. Mr. Seward passed away four years ago. The Edgewood Journal Thursday 14 Dec 1911 MR. AND MRS. SEWARDS GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY A Large Number Of Relatives And Friends Gave Them A Pleasant Surprise Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward passed the fiftieth milestone of their married life Sunday, December 19, 1911, and about fifty-eight of the relatives and friends met at their pleasant home here in Edgewood the following day to show them they had not forgotten the notable event and wished to assist them in celebrating it right. To reach their golden anniversary is a joy untold to an aged couple, and when they have journeyed together for this length of time it is right and proper that suitable observation of the event should be recognized. Mr. Dwight Seward and Miss Ellen Mott were married in Kalamazoo, Michigan, December 10th, 1861, and after spending about twenty years thereafter near that place they moved to Iowa and settled on the farm east of town, which they still own and where they lived until five years ago when they moved into Edgewood. They have been blessed with five children, one of whom died in infancy, the rest still living near this place or near by town. George and family of Elkport, Mrs. Nellie Bissell and family of Wood, Lou, and Mrs. Edith Foster and family who live on the Seward farm , all being present at the anniversary gathering. There are five grandchildren all of whom were also present. Mr. Seward will be 81 years old if he lives until the 26th day of next February, and Mrs. Seward was 71 last August. Truly a good old age in each case. A bounteous dinner was served at the noon hour, during which Elder Hubbell read a poem written by a long time friend of the bride and groom, Mrs. R. A. Steele, who was not permitted to be there on account of illness. The poem appears at the conclusion of this article. Mr. Hubbell, in behalf of the guests assembled, presented them with a sum of gold and silver as a small token of the esteem in which they are held in the community.
