Read More	Ellen Mae (Humphries) Groah, 83, widow of Erskine McCrory Groah, formerly of 131 W. 28th Street, Buena Vista, Va., went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 8, 2010, in King's Daughters' Community Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was born February 26, 1927, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Dorsey Hall and Mattie Agee (Shoemaker) Humphries. She was a member of Vesuvius Baptist Church in Vesuvius and a former member of First Brethren Church in Buena Vista where she was very faithful and found joy in serving others. She was a seamstress with Genesco A Greif Company and retired May 31, 1989, after 30 years service. In addition to her husband, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2004, she was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers, Mary, Aubrey, Melvin, Howard and Clyde Humphries; nephew, Aubrey R. Humphries Jr.; stepdaughter, Wanda Moore; and Joseph W. Fauber Sr., the father of her four children. Surviving family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Jean and Lawrence (Euley) Phillips, and Rebecca (Becky) and Joe Campbell, of Vesuvius; two sons and daughtersin-law, Joseph W. Jr. and Cathy Fauber, of Steeles Tavern, and Dale and Patty Fauber, of Fairfield; four stepdaughters and their husbands, Linda and John Swink, of Lexington, Darlene and Paul (Buddy) Nicely Jr., of Collierstown, Donna and Paul Smals and Dianne Tolley, of Buena Vista; three sisters, Ruth Earhart, of Waynesboro, Dorothy Roby-Clayton, of Staunton, and Gladys Snyder, of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Katherine and Dorothy Humphries, of Vesuvius; a brother-in-law, Mike Clayton, of Staunton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Helen Berry, of Holly Hills, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, in Vesuvius Baptist Church by Dr. Tom Stocks and the Rev. Christian Becker. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sterling Fauber, Stephen Campbell, Colby and Cyrus Fauber, Joey and Todd Swink, Chris and Brandon Nicely, Brent Tolley and Shawn Smals. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Lori Harvey, Amy Fields, Wendy Hubbard, and the spouses of her grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. The family will receive friends at any time at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Joe Campbell at 464 Tye River Tpke., Vesuvius, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington. The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Eclipse Center at King's Daughters' Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving and dedicated care while she battled Alzheimer's Disease. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Vesuvius Baptist Church or First Brethren Hospitality Committee. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
