Mr. Hopper, a resident of Grand Junction since 1930, retired in 1970, as a stockbroker for Boettcher and Co. Mr. Hopper, a resident of Grand Junction since 1930, retired in 1970, as a stockbroker for Boettcher and Co. He was born Aug. 23, 1899, at Monte Vista, where he spend his childhood and attended schools. He also attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. He married Frances Long June 6, 1923, at Boulder. She survives. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and active in its vestry for several years. He was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the Western Colorado Center for the Arts where he served as president for eight years during the first phase of the building of the present structure. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Richard of Boulder; one brother, Russell of Boise, Idaho; one sister Josephine Wagner of Fort Collins; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ellis and his wife, Francs Catherine Long, were married June 6, 1923 at Boulder, Colorado, St. John's Episcopal Church by the Reverend Father Hubert M. Walters. Mr. Hopper was owner of the Intermountain Printing and Stationary Co. store in Grand Junction for twenty-five years. He sold the business and went into training as a stock and bond consultant. He was a representative for Boettcher & Company until his retirement in 1970. They have one son, Richard Ellis Hopper, living in Bould, Colorado. One grandson, Richard Ellis Hopper, Jr., a law school student at the University of Wyoming at Laramie.
