Description	:	Delphos Republican July 11, 1930 Ellison Clay St. Clair was born November 2, 1859 near Morgantown, West Virginia and departed this life at his home in Delphos, Kansas July 2nd, 1930, making him aged at the time of his death, seventy years and eight months. Read More	Delphos Republican July 11, 1930 Ellison Clay St. Clair was born November 2, 1859 near Morgantown, West Virginia and departed this life at his home in Delphos, Kansas July 2nd, 1930, making him aged at the time of his death, seventy years and eight months. He came to Kansas when but a young man of about twenty years of age, and, with the exception of a few years, when he returned to his native state, has made this community his home. In the year of 1883 at Concordia, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Courtney. Soon after their marriage, they settled in the Bethel community, which was their home for a number of years. As a pioneer of this state, he endured the hardships of a new country, having at one time taken a homestead near Oberlin, Kansas, but owing to the hard times, was forced to abandon his claim. The deceased is the last of a large family of seven children. His wife also preceded him in death, passing away Nov. 8, 1929. Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair had no children of their own, but adopted Arlie St. Clair when he was six months old. He has been a great comfort to them in these last years of trouble and sorrow. Mr. St. Clair leaves three half sisters in West Virginia, Arlie, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Delphos, Kansas, where he was a faithful member and attendant as long as his health permitted. He was also affiliated with the M.W.A. and I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 149 of Delphos. The funeral services were held Friday evening at 6:30 at the Bethel Church, with Rev. Paul J. Vielguth in charge. Burial was made in the Bethel Cemetery, the members of the Delphos I.O.O.F. lodge were in charge of the burial service.
