Butler McQuillen, 78, native and life resident of Cedar county, was stricken with a heart attack and died suddenly Tuesday evening in Tipton municipal building while attending diner sponsored by the women of St. Mary's parish. Elmer Elsworth Edward McQuillen was the son of Cyrus and Susan Pentico McQuillen. born at Bennett, Iowa, on January 24, 1863. He spent most of his life in Cedar county except for a few years of mining in Jasper county, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mary Iona Stutler of Wilton, Iowa, at Muscatine, February 19, 1894. To them were born six children, Mrs. Grace Jepson of Tipton; Mrs. Madge Eggert of Bennett, Iowa; Mrs. Irma Aldrich of Morley, Iowa; Elmer of Bennett; Jesse of Tipton, and William, of Tipton. He is survived by his wife ad six children. Besides these he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Pyra Fulton of Storm Lake, Iowa and Mrs. Luella McCroskey go Muscatine, Iowa, and two brothers, Elvin of Reynolds, Illinois, and Forrest of Tipton. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death. Also surviving there are 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, beside a host of friends to whom he was known as Butler. He passed away very suddenly on Tuesday evening, October 21st, while attending a church supper at the Municipal Hall at Tipton, age 78 years, 8 months and 27 days. Funeral services will be at the Presbyterian church on Friday afternoon at 1:30, with the Rev. H. N. Poston officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
