Description	:	Ellsworth Mohr, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr of Victor, died about 7:30 a.m. Monday of diphtheria after an illness of less than a week's duration. He went home from his work Tuesday of last week complaining of a sore throat. His parents thought he was taking the mumps or tonsilitis. Read More	Ellsworth Mohr, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr of Victor, died about 7:30 a.m. Monday of diphtheria after an illness of less than a week's duration. He went home from his work Tuesday of last week complaining of a sore throat. His parents thought he was taking the mumps or tonsilitis. Because of their belief in Christian Science, no medical doctor was called in as the boy's condition grew worse, but a Christian Science practioner, one J. R. Bohr of Belle Plaine, was called. His efforts were of no avail and as a last resort about 2:30 Monday morning Dr. D.W. Phillips was called. He immediately pronounced the case one of diphtheria and advised the parents of the precarious situation. Four hours later the boy was dead. Anti-toxin was administered to each member of his family Monday. A quarantine sign was placed on the premises at 8 a.m. but the Christian Science practitioner had fled. He besought several parties to drive him to Belle Plaine, but on being refused, struck out on foot. A telephone message to Mayor Whelan of Belle Plaine met with the assurance that Bohr would be promptly quarantined if he showed up at his home. Because the guests were admitted to the home during the illness of Ellsworth, and members of his family were on the streets, it was decided by the health authorities to order a quarantine of the churches, moving picture shows and placed of public assembly. Parents were warned to keep their children at home and take every precaution against a further spread of the disease. The death of Ellsworth Mohr is particularly regrettable. He was a youth of 18 years, and would have been a senior in High School next year. He was a lad of many admirable qualities and well liked by all. He is survived by his parents and sister, Miss Alma, besides numerous other relatives. A brief service at the grave was conducted Monday afternoon by Rev. J. J. Pritchard, pastor of the M. E. church.
