Smith, daughter of Adolph and Catherine Smith, was born on a farm nine miles southeast of Victor on June 7, 1884, and passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, April 18, of a heart attack. She had attained the age of 76 years, 10 months and 11 days. She was baptized in the Methodist church and was a member for a number of years. She received her early education in rural schools. Feb. 26, 1902, she was united in marriage to John Mohr of Victor by the Rev. Ludwig at the home of her parents, and to this union two children were born. After their marriage they farmed until 1915, at which time they moved to Victor, where the home had since been made. She was a member of the Ruby Rebekah lodge for several years and was also a member of the degree staff, attending meetings whenever possible. She was a kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend and neighbor to everyone. She will be greatly missed in the home by her devoted husband, and by her family, also her Rebekah sisters, friends and acquaintances. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Fritz of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Mrs. Joyce Adams of Cushing, OK., and Mrs. Marjorie Johnson of Littleton, CO., five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. James Shull and Mrs. Fred Ranfeld, both of Victor; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Her parents, one son, Ellsworth, four sisters, Louise, Elizabeth, Mary and Dora, and three brothers, John, Henry and Charles, preceded her in death. Christian Science services were held from the McAninch chapel, Thursday, April 20, at 2 p.m. with Charles E. Ruden of Des Moines in charge. Rebekah rites were also conducted. Mrs. George Montgomery sang a solo "Shepherd, Show Me How to Go," with Mrs. George Keller, organist. Mrs. Ed Bushnell and Mrs. George Lehman took care of flowers. Casket bearers were Everett Mohr, Boyd Smith, Myrle Mohr, Chalmer Ranfeld, Herbert Meyer, Sr., and Leslie Shull. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
