Mrs. McCartney went to Sheridan a few weeks ago to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shickley. Mrs. McCartney went to Sheridan a few weeks ago to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shickley. Her parents moved near Rock Island, Ill, where she was married to Frank McCartney December 23, 1867. They then moved to Iowa and in 1873 came to Nebraska. They located in Chelsea Township, where they continued to reside until 1907, when they came to Geneva, where Mr. McCartney’s death occurred Jun 17, 1924. Mrs. McCartney leaves two brothers, John Piersol of Greeley, Col., and Edward Piersol of Cortez, Col., the children who remain to mourn the loss of a mother are, Clarence E. of Geneva, Neb., Herbart of Fairmount, Indiana, Marshall of Edgar, Neb., William A. of Tulsa, Ok., and Mrs. Guy Shickley of Sheridan, Wyo. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCartney became a Christian in earl life and for many years has been a faithful member of the United Brethren Church. She will be sadly missed, for through clouds and sunshine she had been faithful in the performance of duty. She possessed in large measure the spirit of good cheer, and helped to make the world a pleasant place for others. She was a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star and in the lodge as well as in the church, her fellowship was greatly prized. She passed away in the hospital in Sheridan, Wyo., January 26, 1932, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 18 days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the United Brethren church in Geneva, Neb., in charge of Rev. E. H. Pontius. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
