Description	:	MCCARTNEY, FRANCIS FRANK--Francis McCartney was born near Milan, Ill., November 29, 1846. He was married to Elma Piersol December 23, 1867. To them were born nine children, six sons and three daughters. Those living are William of California, Charles of Oklahoma, Martin and Clarence of Geneva, Herbert of Harlan, Ia., Mrs. Maud Heller of Belvidere, Mrs. Alta Shickley of Sheridan, Wyo., and Miss Emma of New York City. Those living are William of California, Charles of Oklahoma, Martin and Clarence of Geneva, Herbert of Harlan, Ia., Mrs. Maud Heller of Belvidere, Mrs. Alta Shickley of Sheridan, Wyo., and Miss Emma of New York City. He is also survived by his wife. Mr. McCartney lived in Illinois one year after his marriage, then moved to Chariton, Ia., a few years later coming to Nebraska and settling on a farm six miles southeast of Geneva more than a half century ago. He had been, for a number of years a member of the United Brethren Church. He had been in failing health for some time, and the final summons came suddenly in the early evening of June 17, 1924, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 18 days. He leaves a wife, five sons, three daughters, twenty-two grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren to mourn his departure and to them the community extends sincerest sympathy. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. E. H. Pontius preaching the sermon. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery, the Masons having charge of the burial.
