Active pallbearers were Duane Eggers, Kenneth Eggers, Richard Schulz, Robert Olin, Robert Petersen and Dean Gaylen. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Tilden. Elman L. Eggers, the son of Fred F. Eggers and Ida (Eda) Mary Schumacher Eggers, was born February 24, 1902 in the Dutch hollow area north of Tilden. When Elman was around five years of age his parents moved to a farm two miles north and two west of Tilden. He was united in marriage to Stella Wingate on January 27, 1927 at Neligh; they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1977. Elman and Stella bought a neighboring farm to his parents where they lived for 50 years. Elman's interests were farming, ranching and breeding Charolais Cattle. These interests were shared with his two sons and a grandson. Elman was active in community and civic affairs; serving on the Antelope Weed Control Board, Federal Land Bank Board of Directors, Antelope Feeders Association, Treasurer of the Tilden Community Hospital when it was being built, past President of the Antelope County Farm Bureau and a membter of the Peace United Church of Christ in Tilden where he served both as President and Treasurer of the church. He also acted as Deacon and as a Brotherhood member. Elman was baptized with the first group of young people when Friedens Evangelical Church was started. He died January 8, 1978 at Manor Hall in Tilden where he has been a resident since August 25, 1976. He leaves to survive his wife, Stella; two sons, Gordon and Delmar of Tilden; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Otto and Arnold of Tilden; and two sisters, Mrs Roy (Isabelle) Barkdoll of Tilden and Mrs. Carl (Laurene) Schulz of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.
