Description	:	Elmer "Sparky" Bartlett, 89, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born March 26, 1921, in Kearney County to George and Elsie (Anderson) Bartlett. Survivors include sisters, a brother and friends. He grew up in the Minden area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater in World War II. He was very proud of his service to his country. Read More	Elmer "Sparky" Bartlett, 89, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born March 26, 1921, in Kearney County to George and Elsie (Anderson) Bartlett. Survivors include sisters, a brother and friends. He grew up in the Minden area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater in World War II. He was very proud of his service to his country. He returned to Minden and was a caregiver to his parents until their deaths. He worked as a butcher at the Norgaard Locker Plant in Minden for many years and later worked for farmers in the area. People in the Minden area remember him recycling before it was popular. He would ride his bike up and down the highways searching the ditches for aluminum. He moved to Kearney 30 years ago, and his recycling continued. He was a very private and unassuming man; he loved to be outdoors walking, riding his bike or gardening.
