Description	:	Mrs. Rachel Arlene (Bartlett) Eckhardt, born October 9, 1922 to George and Elsie (Anderson) Bartlett of Minden, NE, passed away peacefully at home in Arlington, MA on November 28, 2018. Rachel was survived by; sons, Ray Larry and wife Sandy, Galen and wife Linda, Richard and wife Denise, grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Eckhardt, Melanie Remmenga, Kenneth Eckhardt and Cheyenne Eckhardt, great-grandchildren Nicholas Pearson and Scott Eckhardt. Rachel was survived by; sons, Ray Larry and wife Sandy, Galen and wife Linda, Richard and wife Denise, grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Eckhardt, Melanie Remmenga, Kenneth Eckhardt and Cheyenne Eckhardt, great-grandchildren Nicholas Pearson and Scott Eckhardt. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Raymond, and grandson Steven Eckhardt. Rachel grew up in Minden, NE and graduated from Minden High School in 1941. She married Raymond F. Eckhardt on May 17, 1941. During WWII Rachel followed her husband around to various military posts, including Brownsville, TX and Yuba City, CA among others, returning to Nebraska when Raymond was shipped overseas. After the war Rachel and Raymond began farming south of Holstein, living on the farm until 1982 when their home was lost to a fire. They moved to Holstein and farmed for several more years. Rachel attended Grace United Methodist Church in Holstein where she taught Sunday school. On the farm she assisted with general farming duties, raised chickens for eggs and for eating. She also had a garden and did extensive canning of fruits and vegetables for winter. In 2001 Rachel and her husband moved to San Dimas, CA and lived there until 2014, when they moved to Arlington, MA. Rachel enjoyed reading, flowers, a pet cat at her side in the house, and most importantly, family. Rachel will be missed and remembered with the deepest heartfelt love.
