Elmer Zoellner was born February 11, 1907 at Groton, to Carl and Elizabeth (Von Wald) Zoellner. He grew up in the Groton area and graduated from Groton High School in 1926. He attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. He married Irma Sager at Groton, September 20, 1933. They lived and farmed in the Groton area all their lives. He was a member of the West Hanson Lutheran Church, where he served as chairman of the congregation for many years. When that church closed, he joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. He served on the West Hanson Board of Directors for many years, and was president of the High Grade Oil Company for many years. He is survived by his wife Irma, Groton; one son, Myron Zoellner, Aberdeen; two daughters, Mrs. Donus (Lovila) Roberts, Watertown, and Mrs. Randy (Audrey Bender, Aberdeen; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one grandchild. Casketbearers were Greg Milbrandt, Corey Nelson, Arlin Zoellner, Bill Zoellner, Joel Zoellner, Neil Zoellner. Vocalists were David Sueltz and Donna Misslitz and the organist was El Schamber. Ushers were Clarence Rose and Eugene Otto.
