Description	:	Died: Elmer E. Hochstetler, oldest son of Jerome Hochstetler. He was a boy full of vigor and activity; his father's stay and helper. He lost his mother when four years old, and missed a mother's tender care; and therefore clung the more closely to his father and his sister, Clara. He also had a special friend, whose full sympathy Elmer shared. That friend was his uncle and for a number of years his Sunday school teacher, Hon. Henry Isely. Of all the Spring Grove public school, since its organization sixteen years ago, he is the first one to exchange this world for another one, His mind was bright and active. Elmer will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Steigleder, of near Booneville, Mo, and two daughters, the uncle and cousins of Elmer, were here attending the funeral The procession to the cemetery was a very large one, Samuel Slosson with tender hands laid away the remains. Elmer's age was twelve years and ten months, He died of diphtheria. Old Dr. Irwin was the attending physician, who did all that medical skill could devise. Rev. A. G. Lohman, of Hiawatha, former pastor at Spring Grove, officiated, and preached an impressive discourse at the school house.
